How to Cook Pork Chops
Ingredients
8 premium pork loin chops, bone in OR boneless, about 1 inch thick
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon dried mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Create the Rub
Combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried mustard, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
Prepare the Pork Chops
Remove the pork chops from the refrigerator and let sit for 30 minutes to bring to room temperature.
While the pork chops are sitting pat them dry with a paper towel. Coat the steaks in the rub and rub into the steaks. Reserve 1 tablespoon on the rub if you plan on making a
pan sauce
. (I recommend the pan sauce)
Cook the Pork Chops!
Place a large frying pan on the stove over medium high heat and add the olive oil. Once the olive oil is heated place the pork chops in the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan. Use more than one pan if necessary.
Cook for three per side on medium high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook 3 more minutes per side. It is very important to check the pork chops for doneness before eating. Use and instant read cooking thermometer to check them. Make sure the pork chops have reached an internal temperature of 150F.
If you plan to make a pan sauce the wrap the pork chops in foil while you prepare the sauce.
