How to Make Yeast Rolls


Ingredients
  • 1 package yeast

  • 1/4 cup warm water

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons melted shortening OR lard

  • 1 egg

  • 2 1/2 cups flour

  • 1/4 cup melted butter


  • Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water. Scald milk and cool.

    Add milk, sugar, and salt to yeast and let stand 5 minutes.

    Add shortening and beaten egg and mix well

    Brush top of dough with melted butter and cover. Set bowl of dough over a bowl of warm water and let rise for 20 minutes.

    Knead dough for 1 minute then shape rolls as desired and place in greased pan.

    Bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown
